An old summer photograph of a bee on some beautiful flowers on a building site next to my house. I hope you like it, but comments and suggestions on how to improve are always welcome!
To be honest, this is one of the nicer shots I've seen on DA so far. Its simple, not anything as impactful as a person dressed as a zombie or with faux blood of some kind (those tend to get all the traffic) but I think thats why its nice.
Quality: You did a very nice job capturing this shot. The sharpness of the flower and (parts) of the bee are just superb. Its difficult capturing bees, i've tried, so kudos on nabbing a shot that has such great detail. I don't feel you need more or less sharpness in this particular photo, its fine the way it is. Less and I feel the shot loses impact, more and it just ruins it.
Colors: Love the colors. They're subtle, yet pronounced. The bee, obviously, stands out among the lavender flowers. The low DOF makes those greens to the right all the more pleasing and you didn't over do it with saturation/contrast. All the colors flow well together and make the overall viewing experience pleasing.
Composition: You have a great eye, for starters. I feel, from this pic, that you have a firm understanding of the golden ratio/placement and that if you had the bee square in the center of the photo it would have had zero impact/intrigue. I like the cropping, forces the eye to snap straight to the subject.
Overall: Wonderful shot and wonderful job editing. I think i'll take a gander at the rest of your gallery now
