Wow, this is a really amazing capture. How did you get your camera to focus like that? I can never get mine to focus on whatever I want it to focus on, whether it be a stalk of grass or a pretty robin perching on a tree branch. Also, I love the contrast between the pure, clean white backdrop and the tips of the grass, it altogether creates a very eye-catching capture. Excellent job!
Thank you for your comment! To get this effect I used a 100mm f2.8 lens and used it at the widest aperture f2.8. I focused on the tip of the grass and shot this against the sky. I didn't do much post-processing except enhancing the blue tones and upping the contrast.
I think a 50mm would do the job very well! I have always used a 50mm f1.4 lens before this one and it can also achieve a very nice dof. Just set it to a wide aperture like f1.4 or f1.8, focus on the tip of the grass and make sure there are not many things in the background to distract from the subject.
